Logo Animation services overview

Your prospects are instantly judging your brand, subconsciously forming perceptions and opinions on who you are and what you do. They’re assessing your credibility, trustworthiness and value to them from that very first interaction. Tell It Better by making a lasting, positive first impression.

2D Animated Logo Design

2D Animated Logo Design

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then a video speaks a thousand pictures. It’s no different with a custom logo animation. Whether used at the end of video, in a presentation, or on your website, 2D logo animation brings motion and character to your brand.

3D Logo Animation

3D Logo Animation

By using 3D logo animation you’re adding extra perspective to your logo but you’re also adding texture, light, shadow and much more. This is really taking it to the next level and raising the bar on the competition. Amazon has done this particularly well with their “sting” (logo animation) at the start of Prime shows.

Email Signature Logo Animation

Email Signature Logo Animation

Email is the most common form of communication in a business. By having an animated logo in your email signature you’re catching people’s eyes, standing out from the crowd, and injecting a bit of personality.

Logo Sound Design

Logo Sound Design

You can control more than how your logo moves - you can control how it sounds. YouTube and Netflix are companies that have done this particularly well in recent times. They say seeing is believing, well hearing is just as important!

The process: How we work

No matter the size of the work, we always follow the same steps. The way you do anything is the way you do everything, and we’re people who sweat the small stuff. Afterall, the difference between good work and great work is care, love and attention to the smallest of details.

1. Brief & Strategy

Whether you’ve got a really clear picture of what you want, or just a bit of a hunch, we’ll work together to shape the who, what, where, when, how and why. By having a really clear understanding of what you’re looking to achieve, we can be as creative as possible within the constraints of the brief.

2. Production

Depending on what level of animated logo design you need, we’ll work through a series of creative tasks. There might be a need for storytelling and style-setting. There might be a need for creating moodboards, styleframes and storyboards. No matter what the brief looks like, we’ll work with you through small steps, each building on the last.

3. Review & Revisions

We’re the experts of custom logo animation, but you’re the expert of your business and brand. It’s vital for us that we work collaboratively so we can make something authentic to the brand while meeting the brief. Through regular presentations and milestone check ins, you’re always involved with what we’re creating.

4. Final Delivery

Depending on the brief we outlined at the start, we add the last bits of polish and refinement to create the final outcome for you. It could be custom sound design, multiple formats or lengths of animation. Whatever the outcome, this is where everything is packaged up and handed over. Your new logo animation is now ready to launch to the world.

FAQ: Logo Animation

What is custom logo animation and why is it important for my brand?

Logo animation is a way for you to add character, feeling and emotion to your brand. In most cases, your logo is your most important brand asset, and by animating it, you unlock storytelling, attention and feeling. You can also use logo animation to differentiate from your competitors, add to your brands perception, and within marketing communications for greater attention or recognition.

How long does the logo animation process typically take?

This really depends on the complexity of your requirements - for instance 2D vs 3D logo animation. If you’d like to see multiple options and explore many creative routes, then it would be a longer process than creating a single route. Typically, we find a logo animation to be a fairly simple and short process. If you need a logo animated quickly, drop us a message or give us a call and we’ll be able to advise on how long we think it would take based on your unique situation and requirements.

What's the difference between 2D vs 3D logo animation?

The difference comes from the input; either a 2D design (typically a vector file) vs a 3D design. 2D logo animations are often less complex, and therefore more cost effective, however this isn’t a definitive rule. With 2D logo animation you would play with shapes, colour, movement and graphic elements. With 3D logo animation you unlock extra abilities to manipulate or ‘resolve’ the logo, including simulations like fluids, wind, gravity, as well as particles, lights and shadows. A 3D logo animation would typically be of a higher complexity, meaning they generally cost more to produce than a 2D logo animation.

Can you animate an existing logo, or do I need a new design?

We can animate pretty much anything. We unlock a greater ability to animate when we are provided a vector file (ie SVG, AI or EPS) rather than an image file (JPEG, GIF or PNG). If you wanted a new design we could help refer you to some brilliant branding companies, but it’s not something we offer as a service.

How can I use an animated logo in my marketing materials?

There are numerous ways you could use a custom logo animation in marketing materials. At the more extreme end of the market, you have companies like TV broadcasters, streaming services or cinemas who use animated logos at the start of productions. In simpler terms, you could use it in your email footer, on an exhibition stand, as part of a presentation, at the top of your website, or at the end of company videos. Websites are becoming more popular for responsive animated content and of course, logo animation for social media is extremely popular.

What file formats do you provide for the final animated logo?

We can provide video file formats like MP4 or MOV. Increasingly we’re having requests for animated vector formats like animated SVGs, Lottie or Splice animations which use code to animate rather than pixels. These can be interactive on websites, responding to mouse movements, clicks and much more. When creating email signature logo animation we’d typically work with GIFs due to email technology constraints.

Do you offer sound design services for logo animations?

Yes! Being a dedicated logo animation studio, we have a roster of composers and sound designers who can help bring life and personality to your branded logo animation through sound. We find having great audio is just as important as great animation when it comes to brilliant animated logos.

How much does logo animation cost?

This entirely depends on what you’d like. A simple 2D animated logo design for an email footer is going to cost significantly less than a complex 3D animation with custom sound that needs to play across multiple screens at a trade show event. We can’t really give a standard price as we never get two projects that are the same. However, we can give pretty good estimates as we’ve been doing this for 10 years now. Get in touch with us either by dropping us an email or giving us a call and we’ll be happy to advise on a ballpark figure. We also offer a free, no obligation proposal to any project.

Can I use my animated logo on social media platforms?

Definitely! Logo animation for social media is a brilliant way to catch attention on social media, especially given the typical viewing times. It can also be a great way to differentiate, and add to your brands perception. We’d define the project requirements through the briefing process and be able to create logo animations that are tailored for social media uses.

What industries or businesses benefit most from logo animation?

There isn’t a single industry or business that benefits vastly more than another when it comes to logo animation services. For some industries like cinema, tv broadcasters and streaming services, it’s the norm to have an animated logo. For other industries, it’s not an expectation. Think of an animated logo as a brilliant way to convey your brand's personality, values and ethos.

How often should I update my logo animation?

There’s no set rule for this. If you’re refreshing your logo design, then it would be vital to keep your animated version of the logo up to date and current. If you’re not refreshing your logo, but you have an old animated logo, or one you feel is dated, then it could be worth exploring how to modernise your brand, and a simple, effective way to do this is through a new logo animation.

Can you create multiple variations of my logo animation for different uses?

Absolutely. Depending on your brief and your requirements, we’d work with you to advise on what we would recommend. To give a simple example; if you were looking to commission a standard logo ‘bumper’ for use at the end of video marketing materials, that would be very different to email signature logo animation. We’d work with you to create a suite of materials optimised for your various usages.

What's the ideal length for a logo animation?

This depends on the way in which you’d use the logo animation. We’d recommend something very short and simple for an email signature, versus something longer for use at the end of video marketing materials.

How does logo animation impact website loading times?

We would provide animated logo design files specifically designed for websites that are extremely low file size. Because of this, there is generally no impact, or very negligible impact. It’s also common to have your website developers stagger the loading of elements. So for example, the static logo is loaded instantly, with the animated logo loading in a couple of seconds after the page has loaded, meaning your scores aren’t impacted by the ‘initial’ load.

Do you offer logo animation services for email signatures?

This is one of the most common forms of logo animation services we provide. Email is a huge communication tool for companies and having an animated logo in your signature can catch people’s eyes and help communicate a bit more about your brand's character and personality. We recommend keeping it simple and small when it comes to email logo animation. It’s important you don’t annoy people with crazy logo animations, and there are limitations in email technology like file sizes and formats.

Can I see examples of your previous logo animation work?

We have some examples on this page, but it’s also extremely common for us to animate company logos as part of a bigger animation project. We’d recommend watching a few of our animations via our case studies page or head to our 2D animations page to see how we bring brands to life through animation.

How can logo animation be integrated into a comprehensive brand strategy?

Motion guidelines and animated logo design are becoming increasingly common in brand strategies as the world becomes more digital, more modern and more competitive. A good brand strategy with animated logos can help explain more of your brand's personality and character without having to use words. This can then be applied across marketing communications as part of your wider strategy.

How does logo animation differ from other types of motion graphics?

Motion graphics and animated videos are trying to explain something, persuade or educate about something, or tell a story to resonate with an audience. A logo animation is a tiny snapshot of the brand itself. Through an effective logo animation you’re trying to explain a little bit about who you are, what you stand for, and your personality.

Can you create responsive logo animations that work on different devices?

Just like a longer form animation, we create logo animations that can work across pretty much any situation or device. From multi-screen logo animations for event branding and conferences, through to the latest in website logo animations using Lottie, Bodymovin and Spline.

What trends are currently popular in logo animation?

We’re seeing logo animation trends changing with increases in how animated logos are being used across websites with new technologies like Spline. It’s now possible to interact with logos using the cursor or by clicking with new advances in responsive logo animation technology. We’re also seeing a trend back towards simple, flat logos and this is being echoed in logo animations.
